MIZ, Inc. Lone Star Floors Laminate Flooring Rip-off DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Please read this before you use this company!!!

My husband and I saved up our money and did a lot of research this year trying to find a reputable company to do our laminate flooring. We checked different contractors and stores. Then we came across Lone Star Floors on Angies List, the owner is Ziad. The conversation we had with him went extremely well. He told us the process that was going to happen when they came out. Ziad also told me it would take 3 days from a Friday to a Sunday. If they didnt work that Sunday, it would be Monday. The first couple of hours were great, then everything started to go down hill. Jose the head contractor, after they came in the house, said to me that this was going to be a lot of work because they werent told we had furniture. Right then, I knew their communication with Ziad was completely off.

We were told that when the contractors got here they were going to do one or two rooms at a time, and then put the furniture back. My husband and I have an 8 month old and a 5 year old, and we couldnt have the whole house torn up at one time. Well, thats exactly what happened. I called Ziad and he said that they were going to have the house livable that Friday evening, and it wasnt. When they left (exactly 5 oclock on the dot) three rooms were torn up, the bedrooms werent touched which was good, but, they piled all the furniture from the other rooms on our beds! And our TV, phone and internet were out and we couldnt reconnect it because the TV was on our bed. We managed to move some of the things to get all four of us in one bed.

On Saturday, morning one of the workers came at 9:30 am and another person came in at 11:00a. One of the workers pulled up at 10:00 am, but sat in his truck for an hour eating. Jose, the head worker, got to our house at 11:30a.By then, my husband was (Ill put it nicely) very upset! Considering they said they would be here around 9a. All of the dust and fumes pushed us out into a hotel for Saturday night, there was no way we could stay in the house with two small children. I gave Jose my phone number and told him we were at a hotel 2 to 3 minutes down the street. To call me when he was almost at the house on Sunday morning and I would come and meet him to open the house.

Jose called me at 10:00 am and said he had been sitting in our driveway for almost an hour! I asked him why he didnt call me. His response was, I didnt want to bother you so early in the morning?!? On Sunday, Jose needed for us to remove our clothes from the closet and strip the beds. We had all of our things piled in the bath tub. Then 5 oclock came around and he said that he would not be able to get to our bedroom that day! My husband hit the roof!

Now, the entire house was torn up! Its was Sunday evening, we had to go to work, and the kids to school. Remember, we were told that the floors would be completed either that Sunday evening, if they worked that Sunday. And if they didnt, it would be Monday. That didnt happen! So my husband and I called Ziad and told him that what he promised would happen... Didnt! And told him we HAD to get back in our house. That evening, Ziad came to our home and tried to make sure they would finish that night. The contractors were here until 12 midnight and still we not completely finished, at least we were able to sleep in our own beds.

Monday morning we did the walk through and found out they ran the planks the wrong way in our master closet, and there were a couple of areas in the house the floor squeaked. I asked Jose about it and he said Ziad told them to do whatever you have to do to finish this job! I told Ziad about what Jose had said and he didnt deny it, he just said that they were going to have everything finished by the end of the day. They were working all Monday, replacing the floor in the closet and hallway where the spots that squeaked. Ziad said me since we had a floating floor it was going to squeak in some spots, and not in others. That this was normal and suppose to happen! They fixed what they could, and Ziad told me if I hear anymore squeaking in the floor to take a wide razor blade, place it in between the joints and slightly hammer it. It was going to fix it! And to top it off, during the first meeting with Ziad, I was told that they might have to use 3 or 4 bags to level the floor at $50 a bag. They used 11 and we had to pay an extra $550. Out of pocket that we did not expect to pay! We were so tired and traumatized with the whole ordeal, we just wanted it over with.

After they left, the next couple of weeks the floor started squeaking in all different spots! I called Ziad about it and he said it will get better when the floor settles. I was waiting to write this report to see if the floor would improve. It has been almost 2 months, and it is still squeaking all over the house! Now, $7000.00 dollars out of our pocket, who really wants a floor that squeaks.

So, if you decide to have Lone Star Floors do any work for you... Dont!
