On 14NOV08 i paid Tim Machuca $1100 by check for a deposit on work to be done at my house. He stated that he would be finished on 17NOV08. (Monday at 1300). Work was to start Sat. 15NOV08 at 1130. No call no show until 1430 and to our surprise, another man named Pete showed up Sat 15NOV08 not Tim. Pete stated Tim had other issues and he would be staining our floors not Tim. Pete started working at 1500.
At 1730 he called me and wanted me to come and look at the progress. Pete had done half of the house by this time. It looked nice, so Pete left for the day and stated he will be back at 0700 Sun 16NOV08 to finish the job. Sunday came and went with no Pete. At 1830 Sunday night, Pete showed up at our house and stated he will work through the night to finish the job on time Monday.
We stopped by the house at 1300 on Monday 17NOV08 to see the finished project. It was not finished; Pete lacked the master bedroom, hall, and closets in all rooms from being done. We were leaving to go to Atlanta Ga. To pick up furniture to move in on Thursday (20NOV08). Pete stated he needed to be paid the remainder of the contract in cash that day to finish the job.
We called Tim Machuca to no avail. Because we were in a pinch we paid Pete $1500 cash. He stated he would finish Tuesday morning 18NOV08. We got back in town Thursday evening at 2100 with a truck full of furniture. To our surprise the job was the same as we had left it on Monday. We called Tim machuca and Pete. Tim never called me back. Pete called and showed up at our house at 2345 Thursday night to finish the job.
At the writing of this (0930, Friday 21NOV08) the floors are curing/drying with wood dust in the stain and streaks across the floor that Pete promises will not be there when it is fully dry. We had to cancel our movers we hired here in Orlando to move the condo furniture at a lost deposit cost of $1200. We had to add a day to the truck rental from Atlanta because we have nowhere to put that furniture, at a cost of $60 a day.
I have in my contract that Tim was going to use a chemical stripper and that cost was $2600, if he sanded the floors the cost would be $2300. Pete sanded the floors, now we have to wipe the dust off of the walls and ceiling before we paint. We were extorted the total of $2600 not $2300 for sanding to get the job done by our contracted date of 17NOV08, only to not have that deadline met by this company.
