I purchased a Craftsman self propelled mower model 917-376480 in 2008.in the last 2 seasons I have had to replace the front drive wheels (part 194231X427 five times. The plastic gear teeth in the wheel housing contiually strip out. The drive gear is metal and the plastic in the wheel cannot stand up to the metal on plastic contact. I replaced both wheels in May this year and 1 is now completely stript and the other 1 is starting to wear. I have a level yard with about 4500 square feet. I have only cut the yard 9 times since replacing the wheels. When I purchased the wheels in May I told the salesperson at the Sears parts center in Omaha about the recurring problem, his only comment was that they sell a lot of this wheel. I would say this is a good indicator of poor quality material and / design.
