American Residential Services - Rescue Rooter
High Pressure Sell

I wasn't impressed with the past services from ARS due to a pressured sales and this time. I felt uncomfortable getting pressured of needing to get the service done immediately, to getting numerous phone calls the next day in the AM, then having someone show up at my door unexpectedly. I know they meant well to help me out, but they past the line. While living at my condo from Jan on, I've had problems in the past from ARS.

On April 19, I had called ARS just to have someone come out to check the condo and see where the smoke could be coming from on the inside of the condo as I have had medical problems from this in the past. An ARS came by and the person was George. He went to examine the vent, as he was alone and Tim, his supervisor, nor anyone else was with him as a witness, that if I didn't get this duct and evaporation coil cleaning done immediately, that I would have build up mold and etc. But that would be my problem if I didn't get this serviced immediately and could have just waited 2-3 months out to get this done. When I got my financial squared away as I told George I was going through my finance two nights ago and I really can't spend now. I told George I don't have a job and haven't had a job for 3 months or so. I feel very uncomfortable how this was presented to me and George insisted I get this done whether I didn't have a job or not. As convincing as they tried to be and no one else was with George at that time, George's supervisor, Tim, was able to work out a discounted cost of the service to be done, but again, I wasn't ready to do this now and I felt the pressure if I didn't get this discounted in time. As talking to them if I weren't able to get this done immediately and stating I don't use AC and the only thing I had was the thermostat set for heat on automatic where if the weather goes down to a certain temperature and to what I can afford. Tim and George kept stating to me I'm going to need the AC here as hot as it gets and I explained to them I lived in Texas for 18-19 years and it gets hotter there due to their humidity so I can stand the heat here and I know I won't have any problem in the summer to not wanting to use the AC here as I use ceiling or hand fan and I only use the heater only when it gets cold and when it kicks on to the temperature what I can afford.in duration of our conversation on the phone to Tim as he were trying to convince me getting this done immediately with giving me a discounted price and me not ready to pay this now, I tried to stress to George I didn't have a job and I have been looking. To me this sounded like they were selective hearing, only what is convenient for them.

I appreciate from Tim to work the price but I wasn't ready to do this now. Also, I didn't get from George or Raymond before they left, a thank you for using our service, which I was surprised. Ironically, talking to Tim, before purchasing the service and getting discounted price, he said to me to say 'Thank you for this and I am happy' when he was giving me a discounted, which is quite odd for someone to say that to me to say back to them. I am requesting half the cost of $475 of $237.50 refund to me as all the issues I've come across from ARS from past of getting me to pay for more services to be done up to now. I was researching and getting second opinions on this issue that I found the AC was not the issue for cleaning and smoke was not coming out from the vent, that it could be coming outside my condo to the door and there are walls in between us are closed. After the Duct and Evaporation Coil cleaning, I'm still having problems with smoke from condo next to me. I tried to get a hold of a supervisor or CEO on Apr 23 and I left a message to Mimi that I wasn't happy and I didn't hear from Tim from the two hours waiting for a return call I requested from Mimi. I found out that there are quite a bit of turnovers of managers and now I see why. I felt they were pretty slick what they did.
