I sold a table through ebay.com.au. Payment was received, the table was sent, feedback was left, all good, and the transaction was over. Two weeks and one day later, the payment was reversed. I called PayPal and explained that it was sent via courier and I did not have a receipt. I was told that that's OK, and that if the buyer is happy with the purchase, it would be put back into my account (first lie). I waited 10 days and then thought of calling the buyer. He insisted that this was reversed by PayPal and was from PayPal credit (from stuff he sold on eBay).
The next day I turned up at the shipping address, which was a shop, and asked him to call PayPal. The PayPal representative was rude and vague, stating that PayPal could hold or reverse payments without a valid explanation. I had planned a 2-week vacation and was sure that both the buyer and I stating that the item was sent would keep the money from being reversed. It was not, and my account was 320 dollars in the red.
The email I received from PayPal said: "Thank you for contacting PayPal. I have reviewed your account and I can see that the transaction has been reversed. We were notified that this payment may not have been authorised by the PayPal account holder."
Every email I get asking for any information has vague lies, which state simply that without a receipt the payment will not be reversed. To me it seems that after my first phone call, in which I explained I did not have a receipt, they used that and lied to me. Why should I have to provide a middle payment company any information about any transaction without a valid reason? So I lost the table and I owe a pty ltd, not a bank, but a company that can do what we want when we want with your money.
