We purchased a mattress from Sleepy's mattress store on February 13. We were quite pleased with the customer service we received at Sleepy's. Our sales person listened to our needs and helped us pick out a Kingsdown “Sleep to Live” mattress. As with any of our larger purchases, we asked the sales person “Amy” about the warranty. We were told it covered any defect in the mattress for 5 years for the matters and 20 years for the mattress set.
Before we ordered the “Sleep to Live” mattress, our bodies were analyzed by a diagnostic bed to find the right sleep surface for our bodies. The mattress is supposed to be “the foundation of better sleep.” It is supposed to relief pressure and help with postural alignment. This mattresses technology measures unique postural needs and calculates which bed is right for each person. Each side of our king mattress is unique to each of our bodies; my husband's side is firmer and mine is softer.
The mattress was perfect for the first 6 months, and then one side started to sag in its center. We thought the mattress was “contouring” to the body. As nights progressed so did the sag; you would need to sleep on the edges of that side of the mattress in order to not fall into the “hole”. The sag unfortunately is directly under the area the back should be positioned. Needless to say, our nights are not filled with sleep and our days are now filled with aches and pains. The “foundation of better sleep” has failed us.
We have purchased many mattresses. The mattress we purchased from Sleepy's is not only one of the most expensive; it is the poorest in quality.
The other side of the mattress started to sag at approximately the 9 month mark. Neither my husband nor I have gained weight since the purchase of the mattress, so our bodies are not the factor.
We called Sleepy's and set up an appointment to have an inspector come to our home to analyze our mattress. The inspector “Sam” came to our house on Monday, January 31. Simply put, the sag is visible to the eye, however, a measuring tape was placed from one side of the mattress to the other and the “sag” was measured. “Sam”, the inspector told us he will give his findings to Sleepy's and Sleepy's would get back to us within a week or two.
When Sleepy's called we were told we have sag that measured approximately 1.25” and even though there is visible sag, we needed to wait and let it sag to a measurement of approximately 1.50” in order to have a full refund of the purchase of the bed, $2399.99 before taxes. Sleepy's would however, give us $600.00 if we wanted to wait before the bed sag's to 1.50” or more.
Unbelievable!!! Sleepy's “the Most Trusted Name in Mattresses” wants us to suffer on a defected bed bought from their store until it defects even more (unless of course we also accept a loss of $1799.99 by switching the bed now.) On February 3, we were told by “Reggie” to wait 30 more days then call Sleepy's to schedule another visit from the inspector; the sag would most likely to have worsened by then and we would get a full refund.
On February 23, we called Sleepy's to set up an inspection and we were told that we only get two inspections a year and if the sag doesn't measure 1.50” or more, we would have to wait another 6 months for yet another inspection. Unbelieveable again!!! Sleepy's wants us to continue to for another 6 months on this uncomfortable mattress.
Sleepy's Mattress Company either needs to replace their defected mattress with a better mattress or refund us the entire amount of the purchase so that we can purchase a new mattress worthy of sleeping on.
As the company website states, “Sleepy's understands that finding the right mattress is essential to the restful sleep needed for good health and well-being.” Sleepy's needs to do their part by understanding there is a problem and to give us what we paid for, a quality mattress so we can get a good night's sleep.
