Ripoff, Sales person lies just to make commission. The customer is supposed to be important

This was my first time buying any furniture from Value City. I was so excited from getting a new apartment and being able to purchase any couch that I wanted. I went to buy a couch from this company on 11/09.

Steve Glassburn was the sales person helping me find a couch for my new apartment. I narrowed it down to a leather couch or a miro-fiber couch. My stepdad was with me at the time and we both had concerns that my cat would scratch the leather if it jumped on the furniture.

This was our main concern when deciding on the two couches. We asked him if this would be a problem with the leather couch and he said that it shouldn't be a problem that it would be ok. He mentioned the warranty if I wanted to get it, that it would cover scratches. Come to find out later, even if I would have purchased the warranty on it animal scratches are not included.

I don't know if he was pushing me to buy the more expensive couch so he would make more off of the sale? But, reguardless he should have had a little more knowledge to help me answer my concerns. It was not like I was not going to purchase nothing if I couldn't get the leather couch. I was deciding between others too. The were cheaper though so, maybe that is why he was trying to get me to buy the leather one.

Ok, so now I get the couch home and notice after a few weeks go by that there are scratches on this couch from my cat just jumping onto it! Now I have to go pull out my comforters and cover my couch with them at all times so it does not scratch. You would think after paying 1000.00 it would be nice to be able to show it to people when they come over. Now I have to go spend more money to cover a couch I just bought!

I wish the sales person would have been more educated on fabrics and warranty policies. I have contacted Value City and have spoke with several people there. The first time I called and the manager was busy. The lady said the manager would call me back. 12 days later still no call.

I called again and spoke to 2 more people and all they could say to me was I can't do anything for you. Also one of the managers told me my couch would not be of any worth to them. They are trying to make money for the company that is what he told me! I think this is poor customer service and I will never be buying anything from them again! They could at least let me get the less expensive couch and still pay the 1000.00 I'm sure they would still make money as well.

No one there is trying to help me and it is really frustrating as a consumer. I will never recommend anyone to Value City. The customer is suppose to be important. After all, if we were not buying from them, they would be out of business. I am not going to let this rest. They will hear from me everyday until I get something done about this.
