Utter lack of customer service for shoddy, defective product

I purchased an AeroGarden Space Saver 6 for my husband for Christmas. Upon removing the box from the shipping box (which was in fine condition, no dents), it was apparent that the unit had been dropped or otherwise mangled because the box was crushed, as was the box containing the herb kit.

When we unpacked the item and attempted assembly, we learned that the grow lights had not been included in the box. A call to customer service resulted in my having to plead for upgraded shipping (3-5 days vs the 7-10 offered) so we'd have the grow lights and be able to use the unit. The rep confirmed that the missing bulbs were a known issue and stated that they'd run short and pirated some from other boxes. Fabulous.

When the replacement bulbs arrived, one of the two was shattered in the packaging. At this point, we decided we should return the unit because everything had been wrong from the outset. Attempts to get customer service to agree to cover the cost of return shipping were met with rudeness and accusations, and the statement that there was no defect or fault on their part so they would not pay. I had to pay $31.66 to ship this plastic piece of garbage back to the company. Multiple attempts to reach the customer service line have been met with a recording stating that the call cannot be completed as dialed. Total cluster.

Avoid doing business with this company at all costs.
