National Moving Network and Crs Movers ripoff!

Attn: Robert Boyd: November 20

On September 14, I accepted an internal position with Verizon Wireless in Murfreesboro, TN, a relocation from Sacramento CA. After accepting the position I got quotes from several different resources for moving. Such as U-Haul, Penske, and Door-to-Door storage. All of them were under $2500.00 for the move.

A coworker of mine, told me about National Moving Network. She had about the same amount of items. Her quote was less then the prices that I was quoted. After speaking with Tony (a rep from National Moving Network), he explained to me that he was quoting me high and that way there would not be any surprises. I gave Tony my credit card number to ensure the move and to pay the deposit of $500.00. The complete move was quoted to be $1440.00. This was for a 36 TV, a 27 TV, and a 13TV. About 20-30 boxes, different sizes from u-haul. A queen size bedroom set, a twin bed, a 50 gallon fish tank, a 10 gallon fish tank, 4 wall pictures, washer and dryer, deep freezer and a toddler bed.

The first date they were scheduled to pick up my furniture, was on October 10th. They did not show up. I had to be on a plan on the 14th of October at 7:00 am, to leave for TN. So I had my mother stay at my house and wait for them. They finally showed up and the first driver said that since my fish tanks did not have any boxes, they would not be able to transport them, and then left. Then two days past and my mother got a call from CRS (certified relocation services), and they informed her that they would be there at 2:00 pm. He did not show up until 6:00 pm. They got my items loaded on the truck, and not one time mentioned there would be an extra cost for anything. My mother signed the papers acknowledging that the pick up was made.

After one week had passed, I had not heard anything in regards to my furniture. I called National Moving Network and spoke with Tony. Who then referred me to Walter with National Moving Network customer service. Walter later referred me to CRS. I left numerous messages. Finally Dalia called back and gave me the news; they were holding my furniture until I deposited $6896.00 into their account. I explained to her that I was not aware that the move would be that amount. After explaining to her and telling her I did not have that amount, she later said the only way that I would get my items, was if I was to send overnight to them the amount that they are requesting, and hung up the phone.

After researching and calling consumer affairs, BBB, and DOT, I learned that they could do that. However, I would have to pay the original quote plus 10% of the new cost. Which I was willing to do. I call Dalia back and informed her what I've learned and she said she would speak with her supervisor, and see what can be done. Three days went by. I called her back we went round and round and finally I asked for her supervisor. She said he would call back an hour later, and still to this day, I have not received a call from him.

Several days later I got a call from Dalia stating that her manager found a clause, and my items would be $3220 more then the original quote. However, I need to pay the full amount before delivery. Once again after going round and round with her she finally gave me the option to deposit $1140.00 in their account and they would bring me half of my things. I agreed, took the time off work, and again they were a no show. Then, I once again contacted the company and I informed them that they would get cash upon receipt of my items. They told me that they would be able to deliver that Thursday, November 13th. I called the company all day long and they said that the driver is on his way, and should be there. I asked for a phone number to contact the driver. Was told there was no way to get a hold of them. And again a no show.

I've contacted Dalia again, and she has not returned my call. I am at the last draw. I have a 4-year-old child, and we are not without our personal items. Can you please help me? If you were able to point me in a direction that would be able to get the help that I need, that would also be greatly appritiate. Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give.

P.S. Finally I got my items but now discovered several boxes was missing like my harddrive for my computer, monitor, dvd burner and player, dual deck vcr, clothes, baby toys, leather coat, 2leather outfits, baby leather coat, 10 wigs, 10 wig heads, suade coat, 2 cordless phones, disney phone, disney wall clock, disney comforter set, disney valance, disney curtains, disney cd walkman, kitchen dishes and pots and pans. Among all of these things missing also we had serval broken items like my 10 gallon fish tank, my 36' tv fish tank equipment and also several music cd's was missing out of the cases. I ended up putting a stop payment on the check. I have tired numerous of times to talk to someone about my items and all that Dalia and maria is able to talk about is the stop payment on the check. I want your readers to think twice before hiring any moving service.

Sincerely,
Shirley Arnold.
