We purchased a table and chair set from Santoro Urban Home in April. It took 4 months to get the table and the owner Melanie Santare did not attempt to contact us. We always have to call her. She said that it would be in in a few weeks and then would not call.
Once we got the table in August it was missing the table hardware and did not match the color of the chairs we ordered. We then were given the option to reorder a different color and keep another smaller table in its place till we recieved our table. Once we got that one home, the hardware was bent and wouldn't work. We ended up using the other table and the other hardware while we waited. She did give us an extra two chairs for our trouble.
We were satisfied, although not satisfied at the time with her since she did not contact us to let us now that the table would be in late. She again gave us another date that the new table and chairs would be in and that time came and went with no phone call to let us know if there was a problem. We finally called November and she said the warehouse had burned down and we would have our table in a week.
Now it is December 10th and we went to her yesterday just to get our money back since we were tired of waiting and needed a table and she did not, once again, contact to let us know there would be a delay. Now she says that she told us it would be in this week and that special orders are final and we would have to deal with the distributor to get our money back.
This is an outrage! She had some of the furniture in her store when we ordered it and know that she would be able to sell it once it came in. She gave us the number to the distributor but they said that she makes all the money on the table and chairs since she is the retailer and we need to work it out with her.
Why couldn't she understand that it is rediculous to ask someone to wait 8 months for a table and chairs when they were told in the beginning it would take 3-4 weeks? My husband works at a furniture store and they would absolutely take the furniture back if there had been that kind of delay. How much could she really be making off of a $350 set? Also, why should we have to call the distributor to get the money back? She should have to do that! Just an outrage!!!
