Just over two years ago I purchased a home and hired Northern Light Home Inspections to perform the inspection required for the lender. We set a time for both of us to meet at the home so I could see what was done and ensure the findings for myself. When I arrived at the house he ahd already been there and said he was almost done. I asked a number of questions about the house and the thermal imaging. He said he had not done it but had tried and could not get it to work. It did power up but the image was not clear.intentional? He did knock off $50.
In the past two years I have found much of the report to be inaccurate.
Electrical - I have found as many as twenty lights or outlets on the same circuit. None of these have grounds. Some circuits have wires but nothing connected to them, others have one light bulb in a back entry closet. The cost of repair is quoted out at $3350. To be done in the next month or so.
Insulation - The entire house has no insulation in the walls but the seller and the inspection indicated 18 inches in the attic. True there is 18 inches but it blocks the ventilation from the eaves which form eight to ten inch ice dams as the thaw and freeze.
Over all the original reason to hire him was thermography $50 off was not enough.
