GotToRelocate - Perfect Move
GoToRelocate And Perfect MoveGotToRelocate And Perfect Move Not So Perfect ripoff

I recently moved from California to Georgia - after reading numerous reports on this site, I was committed to not becoming another moving company victum... So much for good ideas..

I first had 4 different moving companies do physical walk thrus of my apartment so that i could see what the general concensus was on the amount of stuff that i had after having United, Bekins, Mayflower and Global do walk thrus, i sat down with all of their estimates and all 4 companies gave an estimate of between 570-600 cubic feet and approx 4000 lbs for the move.

With this information in hand i started my search online to see where i could get the best rate. I found a company called gottorelocate online (gottorelocate.com) and began my online and phone conversations regarding the move. I even faxed them copies of a couple of the estimates i received from the walk thrus.

With this information in hand, they proceeded to give me an estimate for the move. I also asked them about certain things i saw on this site and they assured me they used professional movers with professional equipment, etc, etc, etc...

Well, on the day of the move, what pulls up in front of my house?

A Ryder rental truck and 3 guys - they come to the door and introduce themselves as "the Perfect Move" - i asked who they were and they produced the estimate from gottorelocate

Mistake #1

I immediately called gottorelocate and of course, my 'customer rep' was not available, and the person that answered the phone explained that they had contracted "the Perfect Move" to do the actual move... I asked about the rental truck and they told me that that truck was there to pick up my stuff and was meeting the actual moving van later that day

Well, you can probably guess the rest:

1) it takes them 6 hours to load the truck

2) the 'movers' overlook and dont pack items (such as the hardware they removed from the bed when they disassembled it)

3) they tell me it will cost me $25 to box my mattress and $25 to box my large tv

4) after loading the truck they tell me that i have much more than was on the estimate and they proceed to charge me for an additional 250 cu ft of stuff

5) they tell me i have 100 boxes - i invite someone to come and count the boxes i have - they are all in my garage and there is no where near 100 boxes

6) they tell me that they are going to meet the actual van later that day and that the driver will be leaving California and heading directly to GA and should arrive there in 5 days

Are you starting to see the pattern here...

I leave CA and drive cross country - i expect the movers to show up the day after i arrive (thats the 5 days)

1) no van arrives when they told me

2) i call the company and they tell me the driver changed his route and they give me the drivers phone number

3) i call the driver and he tells me he went from CA to IL to FL and then he will come to GA a week later

Ok, steam is coming out of my ears...

The driver finally arrives with the van (after it takes him 3 hours to find my house...)

The driver arrives with no helpers

The driver arrives in a truck marked 'Dania Moving Co'

The driver back his semi onto my front lawn to unload

The $25 i was charged for boxing my mattress - well, my mattress was not in box - it was not even wrapped and it scuffed and marked like it had been dragged around

The $25 i was charged for boxing my tv - well, the tv was not boxed, it had a piece of cardboard taped to the front of it...

Boxes are missing

Someone elses box of stuff is unloaded at my house

On and on and on

The time has come for the consumers to raise up and take actions against this outright deception and fraud being perpetrated on us and no one should sit idely by and allow this to continue to happen

I have already filed complaints with the BBB - i will also be filing reports with the FTC, the agencies governing moving companies, and every other agency i can think of

I have sent numerous emails to gottorelocate and they have not responded to a single message
