I just took both of my cars (99 Nissan Sentra and 02 Toyota Camry) to the Firestone service center San Antonio, TX, located on San Pedro (281) and Thousand Oaks. I took them in for state inspections. First off, I was behind a lady who appeared to not know much about cars, and the service man at the desk spent about five minutes trying to convince her that she did NOT need to have all her spark plugs replaced. I didn't mind the wait, as I was completely fascinated by what was taking place. Though I never found out if he was successful in convincing her.
Anyway, the Nissan hadn't been driven for about two weeks, and when I drove it in to Firestone, the brakes sounded bad. So I had them do a free brake inspection on that one. They called me back and said there was a little bit of rust on the pads, but most of it looked like it had been rubbed off already and at most I needed was possibly a cleaning if it would make me feel better (about $32). I didn't get the cleaning, but their honesty is so appreciated. This is the first time I've been to a "free" brake inspection place in over five years and I didn't have someone try to take milk me dry. I've had people try to get all fluids replaced, brakes replaced when not needed, new calipres (sp?), even new struts. Not these guys though. Wow, what a refreshing experience. I can't vouch for all Firestones, but the guys at this location were incredible. Thank you so much.
