While preparing for our taxes & balancing bank statements, I noticed the following unknown charges on the bank of america checking account bank statement:
CChs DES 8887545931
7/08/09 39.95
8/13/09 39.95
9/10/09 39.95
10/6/09 39.95
I called BofA & found out that this was for Cross Country Home Warranty. BofA patched in Pricella from CCHS who told me that we had authorized this via a telemarketing phone call in June. I requested this tape be pulled & was told this would take 30-45 days. Neither my husband nor myself remember getting this call & certainly we would not have agreed to this! We never purchase extended warranties under any circumstances. We would not knowingly have signed up for this under any free trial or otherwise.ccHS is affiliated with BofA and so are able to use the banks confidential (encrypted) data to debit accounts that they have no written authority to debit.
Pricella from CCHS said they would NOT reimburse the $159.80 that was debited.
We are going to close our accounts with BofA tomorrow, and call our attorney - what unethical practices by both bofa and CCHS.
