Well, like all bad stories this one begins like the others. "And our nightmare began!" Mike Annundson came to us on the recommendation of a family member stating that his work was 'excellent' and that he was the most honest contractor I could ever dream of finding! Both became a phenomenal joke in the end. At our contract 'signing' we requested of Annundson to have a copy of his insurance and contractor liscences. He supplied the insurance paper but avoided the liscences stating he would have ready by the start of work. We felt very apprehensive but remembering the recommendation we continued. Annundson then immediately had the work begin the same day and by the next day we knew we had problems when we/I came home to a mess left in my driveway, sides and back of house. When I climed a ladder to the roof I near had a heart attack! The sheeting was in many areas put together with what looked like scrap pieces. The nailing was so incomplete that some sheets only had a few nails. Areas around vent pipes were cut up to 14 inches beyond the pipes and the under part of the a/c unit was a mess. I called and spoke to annundson his response was for me not to freak out and that he was doing his way. We then went to the state contractors liscencing website and found that his liscences had been suspended for over 2 months because of his having no workers comp insurance and later failure of having a bond. I called him about this and he just brushed it off. Ultimately I/we fired him for failing to fix his liscences. He refused to return our down payment and later put a lien on our home charging that we owed him the full amount for the roof install. We contacted the California State Liscencing Board who, after investigating, fined annundson $10,000. We want to warn anyone planning to do business with this company/guy to steer clear from it immediately if you want to keep your sanity!
