I literally get sick everytime I'm out on my very, very expensive Trex deck. We've had it for 4 summers and it has been nothing but a nightmare.
2 months after it was installed we had mold everywhere. It wasn't until later that I found out that this soft material would do that.
Not to mention that they don't guarantee it if you powerwash it. Guarantee? What guarantee?
Just like what others have said when I called they said it would do that and I would have to use a certain wash and scrub it. This was the maintenance free material, right? Well srubbing it was an understatment as getting off that mold was almost impossible and then within 3 weeks, yes that's right it started coming back.
My "quasi black spotted" deck now mocks me every time I'm on it. There is no recourse if you have it installed. They do not stand behind their product even though they knew that it was inferior. Standing behind their product would mean what? A refund? That will never happen with this company. A replacement with the new and improved Trex which they say is better. Good luck. No you will get nothing for your good faith in their product.
So we are stuck. And power washing it, which is what we had to end up doing and that wasn't easy either, literally begins a flaking of the finish. And after a few weeks, mold again.
I am taking the time to write this to warn others. I've been successful in changing the minds of many friends and family members. For us it was thousands of dollars down the drain.
Trust me, I would have liked nothing better than to write a glowing review sitting on a beautiful deck, with Trex that will never be.
