After reading the fine print while trying to buy a Pottery Barn Bed frame, it became apparent that they're trying to double dip on shipping.
What started out as a sale price of only $999., quickly escalated to $1336.32, or over 1/3rd of the sale price. Here's how it works, (or not). Pottery Barn hits you with a $150. Delivery surcharge, which includes setup, and then a shipping and processing charge, in this case for a suspicious $99.90.
It's obvious that they are trying to pass on the overhead of interstate business on to the consumer, but where are the savings? A local store may be a better option, I don't need to pay $150 for a 5 minute bed set up and I'm unable to opt out of said "service".
