In April, we bought new flooring for an entire small house. The product and the actual installation were fine. However readers may want to know that the sales and planning process were at best confused and at worst dishonest.
Upon entering the store, a hard sell commenced, to the point of being intrusive. Pledges made about style, price and availability were broken.
A vinyl sheet pattern was chosen, but later turned out not to be available until after the date we needed it. A second pattern was chosen that was available sooner, according to salespeople. Then it was determined that the first pattern was also available, so we ordered the first choice. An installation date was set.
The price per square yard went up between our visit and the contractor's visit to place the order. But, 'don't worry, we'll deal with you on it.'
The night before the installation date, the contractor called the store, not having heard from them. They were planning on coming one week later and had not called. After several calls, the date was moved up to only a four day delay. This caused the contractor and us major inconvenience. And the tile installed turned out to be the second choice, not what was ordered.
We believe the sales people either work on commission or are instructed to say whatever is needed to finalize a sale, on the idea that things can be changed later.
