Ledom A/C & Htg was contracted to install a new 3 ton A/C, Heat Pump, duct work on my father's house. My father is an 80-year old senior. Ledom was contracted with because he was a Lennox authorized dealer.
After he had installed the duct work, heat pump, & A/C unit, he told my father he had made a mistake and installed a 5 ton unit instead of the 3 ton, but he would not charge my father the difference, that my father just got a real good deal.
The paperwork showed this unit to have a 5-year warranty on all parts and a 12-month warranty on labor.
After 14 months, the compressor in the 5 ton unit burned up. Ledom then admitted that he was not in good standing with Lennox and could not honor the warranty, he recommended another Lennox authorized dealer. When that dealer was contacted, they said that you cannot install a 5 ton unit with duct work that was installed for a 3 ton unit, that was why the compressor went bad.
I believe it is now clear that as Ledom probably owed Lennox money, that is why he couldn't honor the warranty, when he was installing the unit, he used what he had and scammed my father into thinking my father was getting a "good deal."
They would have to charge my father another $3250 to replace the 5 ton with the proper 3 ton unit.
Upon calling Lennox, Lennox refused to honor any warranty on the unit at all, they said it was the dealer's fault. Yet the dealer was their authorized dealer. Their only suggestion was to sue Ledom.
Ledom has now refused to take any phone calls.
So, even though Lennox has authorized dealers, they do not stand behind their authorized dealers.in 14 months, my elderly father has had to pay for two A/C - heating systems for his home. He is on a fixed Social Security income, there is no since in him paying to sue Ledom, as Ledom has no assets. This is truly a rip off on the elderly.
If Lennox is going to advertise "authorized dealers" then they should stand behind their dealers and honor the warranty.
