Cancelled order and then they charged my credit card twice more!

I placed an order on 1/2/09 with Empire Today for a set of blinds. I placed a $200.00 deposit from my Visa/Debit card. They gave me the standard cancellation notice, giving me 3 business days to cancel. On 1/3/09 I cancelled the order because I found them to be grossly overpriced. I received my cancellation number and was told a representative would contact me in a few days.

On 1/5/09 I was contacted by a representative who was very polite, although he did bad-mouth their competitors, but who understood why I was cancelling my order. A couple of days later when the refund hadn't posted, I called Empire Today to inquire. They told me that it takes 3 to 5 business days and it should post the beginning of the week of 1/12/09.

Today is 1/13/09. I called Empire Today this morning and the young woman in customer service said it was noted that the refund would be processed today. At 3:30 pm I checked my web banking and found that not only had Empire Today not refunded my deposit, but they had charged me ANOTHER $200.00!!!

I called customer service who gave me the run around and eventually told me that they had no notes in the file as to why I was charged more money. And that they would email someone about it.

I have called my bank, but until the transaction actually posts to the account, I can't file a fraud claim.

But YOU can avoid them like the plague!!! Overpriced and definitely not on the up and up.
