We have been treated horribly by this company and regret ever doing business with them. They told us it would take less than 3 months to build a pool and it took 8. They first failed to get a dig permit causing initial delays and then they never showed up on the start date they scheduled with us. On the days they did show up for work they were always late. They drove a dozer right into our block wall and damaged the side of our home which they refused to pay for. We had our homebuilder make the repairs to our stucco and siding and when they tried to contact Renaissance Pools to bill them they lied and said they never heard of us. The salesman lied and said it would cost nothing to crane our pool into our yard but then billed us $900 the day they dropped the pool shell in. We failed several of our inspections because they forgot to submit a soils report to the city causing enormous delays to our installation. They were going to charge us almost $500 for the 4 soils reports they needed to obtain due to their lack of planning. At the time they offered to pay the costs of these reports because they knew they screwed up and it was their fault for the delays however they screwed us later by suing us for the cost of the soils reports. Our pool only came with one fiber optic light which does not light up the pool so we are unable to swim at night. We were told by our salesman that one light would be enough for our pool and we would not need to add more at the time we ordered our pool. They only installed one filter on our pool which is only big enough to support a small pool or spa. (as told by several pool maintenance and repair men) So our ONE filter is doing the job of 4 filters and must be cleaned weekly. Not the easy maintenance as promised in their sales pitch. Once our pool was finished we never heard from them until 4 years later when they decided to sue. They claimed whenever paid for our cascade EVEN THOUGH THEY GAVE US A RECIPT THAT STATES IT WAS PAID FOR as well as 3 signed Liens Release forms. They also sued us for the soils report costs even though they said they would pay for them because they were at fault, and they sued us for our $1000 rebate because they say we defaulted on our contract by not paying them on time. They NEVER billed us for any of these items when our pool was finished. They never called or mailed any bills. They never put a lien on our home or anything. Not word from them until 4 years passed (long enough to escape a complaint to the Contractor's Board) and then they just sue. This was a sleazy attempt on their part to get more money by suing for interest that they allowed to buildup on purpose. Fortunately the judge did not award them that believe that we defaulted on our payments since I had proof of payment to them on each phase and we kept our rebate from those jerks. We also had to hire a leak detection company to find a leak in our pool because we noticed our water levels dropping rapidly. The leak was on one of the return lines located under the pool decking. For unknown reasons they wire tied all the pipes together putting stress on the plumbing. They also wrapped all the pipes up in visqueen making it difficult for the leak company to locate where the leak was. They said in all their years of repairing pools they have neer seen this done. The total cost of the repair cost us $1600. They told us the leak was the installers fault due to inproper installation. I contacted Renaisssance Pools and explained the situation to them and went as far as even having them speak with my repair man however they refused to accept responsibility for the cracked pipes. Our experience with this company has been a complete nightmare.
