I hired Stevie McGatha with Integrity Construction (Centreville Alabama) in October
He was hired to put my shingles on for $ 2340 and I purchased the shingles myself from a wonderful business called G&H Lumber.
I also hired him to frame in a entry door for my garage to go between a garage that was installed by another company. Cost for labor was $ 250.
I also hired him to paint my entry way and hang a light fixture for $ 300. I also hired him to put in replacement vinyl windows.
He requested half of the money up front, which I had heard of, but failed to realize it is usually for materials. He did not purchase any materials for the job. He even told me that I had to go get the lumber and materials myself. Being a newly divorced woman, I guess I just didn't realize that I was being taken advantage of since my x-husband took care of this type of thing before.
When half the roof was done his wife showed up and told me that he had been to prison for kidnapping, that he had just left home on drinking binge, bought duct tape from hardware store and that she thought he might hurt me. He showed up later with a worker and told me she was bi-polar and the worker agreed and they kept working. He told me he would finish the work at noon (this was a saturday) I had a ball game to go to and left him a check. He did not finish the work but left. I called and he said he would finish the next morning. I waiting and he did not show. I then called and told him to finish first thing monday morning or I would stop payment on check. He told me he had left home and was apologetic and finished.
He then started a helper painting that did not know how to paint. My entry way looked horrible. I told him to get the guy out and paint it himself. He painted off and on, always an excuse why he couldn't work the whole day. The painting went on for over a week without being finished.
He started the framing of the entry door. I had 2 sheets of siding but he said it wasn't enough. I could not find an exact match so had to get something not exactly the same color. He had me buy 4 sheets of siding but only used a little more than one. So, the siding could have matched perfectly if he knew what he was doing. Not only does it not match but it doesn't line up evenly with the other. After the job was finished the door fell out since he didn't nail it or screw it in.
The windows arrived and he put them in. The last window (a large picture window) had to be removed. He took a hammer and shattered it from the inside all over my drive way.
He came back finally and finished the entry painting. It looked good wet and I paid him. After it dried it was obvious it needed another coat and I found spots that were not painted. He used my Purdy paint brushes and I found them in the paint cans with dried paint in them and my rollers and brushes with dried paint in them in my backyard. There was paint in my carpet and on my hard wood floors as well.
After a couple of weeks my roof started leaking. He came out and told me he forgot to put the caulk around the flashing. He came over and put black stuff on the roof. My house is 2 story and he got the black stuff on my ivory siding. He also fixed my entry door by taking 8 big nails and nailing them through the brick moulding (trim around door) It looks horrible. The black stuff was not spread evenly so my roof started leaking again today. I called him and he told me he was not coming back out. The ceiling is leaking in my kitchen now and I have no idea when it will be fixed.
I also have a window that I have since realized will not stay up since it is installed crooked.
This guy is a licensed contractor in the state of Alabama (supposedly)
His motto for his business is:

I have since found out there are numerous complaints with their work from other people and businesses.
I must warn anyone considering this company to RUN! There are many other reputable companies in the area that know what they are doing and without the drama.
