I am completely sympathetic to your situation. My story is even worse and has been going on since May.
First we found land. We went to Clayton in Candler and asked to get a land-home package. Long story short, they bought the land to wrap into the package, but they closed 1 month late, and we were close to losing our land!
The previous homestead had used a spring for water. I asked them repeatedly to check the spring... Make sure it's good with the drought and all. They told uds they could not find the spring, but we didn't have any extra money for a well. After almost stroking out about that, I called Clayton the next day and my "dealer" tells me that the contractor now says he has always known where the spring is! After 3 weeks of hearing, "Oh, he'll be out there tomorrow to run the lines" and calling every other day to tell them that nothing had been done, we got seriously pissed!
(... I almost forgot! The house was ordered Labor day week. The house has been set-up on the land since Oct. 23rd!)
NOW the financing still has not been approved! Who puts a house on land, new septic, grading, etc... And the financing isn't yet approved? AND we still haven't been hooked up to water!
Our only goal was to be in by the holidays. Now it may not be until February... If at all!
