I hired heartland movers on 8/20/08
I contracted them to move the following items:
3pc sofa loveseat chair
3pc entertainment center
2 armoires
2 dining room tables w/8 chairs ea.
1 bedroom suite
1 bunkbed
1 deep freezer
washer dryer
Exercise set
2 sofa beds
No boxes, clothes or anything additional
They quoted me $350 to include the breakdown and set up of beds properly crating protecting items etc. He stated dont go with a per hour mover because it will take hours just to unhook some of the items
They filled the truck with some of my items, got to the house and said they wasnt any room for the beds, sorry. So I stated are you going to go back and get them and he said no. I said wait, I contracted you to move a specific list it doesnt matter if the truck is full, go back and get it. I only lived less than 5 miles away from the old home. He refused, he left behind my bed, my kids bunbeds and trundle, my sofa bed, my dining room armoire almost half my list. When I asked for my money back so i could pay him after the job because clearly the price needed to be renegotiated he said no and then proceeded to say matter of fact I am dropping all your stuff in the living room and you can figure out what to do with it.
I proceeded to call the police and the officers stated to them they should renegotiate the price since they are leaving us without a bed for me or any of my kids and he acted like he would in front of the police officer but as soona s he left they left everything in the living room and left.
They broke items in addition to leaving items they were specifically contracted to get. I was in a car accident and cannot sleep on the floor, nor should 3,4, 5 year old children. My house is dangerous because the kids cant maneuver around there only living room. I have no male to help me try to get anything from the house. This company was not even he cheapest estimate, but he was supposedly willing to take everything apart and put it back together. Since I was unable to. He even came and saw all the items ahead of time.
After returning to the home the next day, back doors were left open and my house looked ransacked. Gates and doors were purposely left open unbenownst to me to allow one of the movers to return and steal jewelry, computers and tools, ironically all the things this mover said he was interested in purchasing.
I cant believe a so called business man would do this to a woman. Now I have no help to get these beds and have no clue what I am going to do. I just want to forewarn the next person before they befall the same fate.
This has been the worst moving experience ever.
