I got a "free" estimate to repair my roof. Andrew K from Gandy roofing, siding and windows, came out 3 different times before even getting on top of my roof. The 3rd time he came out, he used my ladder to get on top to do a rough measure of my roof.
I chose to go with Gandy because of the choices I had, Gandy was the only roofing company who offered financing longer than 1 year. I couldn't and can't afford a large lump sum payment. I filled out a loan applications and gave Andrew K a $1000.00 down payment.
A few days later I got a call saying I was approved and I would be contacted shortly thereafter to schedule a date to put up the new roof. A week went by and no word so I called their number and a different roofing company answers, and tells me they bought the number from Gandy, because Gandy went out of business.
I called the finance number and that was disconnected. We found out from our bank that the check we gave them was cashed the same day that Gandy went out of business. I'm sure they reopened business under a different name. The co-owners are John Gandy and Steve Ingalls.
