Triple Crown Maffucci
Bekins My lawyer had to intervene to prevent overcharging and to ensure delivery of my possessions

I had 3 bids and went with Triple Crown for move from NYC to Columbus OH in June. Should have went with another company! These folks are predators. I had an estimate done by their "estimator" who calculated 4,000 lbs from my small 750 sq ft apartment and $2,900. I signed an agreement that guarantees my costs would be no more than 110% of the estimate. I added insurance and some packing of electronic equipment at the last minute for an additional $600. The total should have been $3,500. The crew showed up on time to move me but didn't come with enough packing materials or supplies. They were nice enough and were well tipped. I was told 2-6 days for delivery. On the 3rd day I received a call that the weight was 5,700 lbs and they were charging me $4,900 (way beyond the 110%) and that my possessions would not leave their warehouse in Brooklyn until the bill was paid in full. I fought briefly and then said to myself, "call my attorney-friend Norman and see if he will intervene." He did — and boy was it necessary. He told them in no uncertain terms that the contract was enforceable and if they withheld my goods it was theft. This happened over the course of about 6 phone calls because they kept passing the buck internally and we found ourselves talking to various people in the company.in the end, we agreed on an additional $4,100. And they agreed to delivery on the sixth day at approx 10am. On delivery day I got a call that the driver overslept and delivery would be closer to 1PM. At 2PM I called Maffucci and they said the driver was being held up at a weigh station for improper paperwork and delivery would be the next day. I had Norman call them again and tell them that unless delivery was made on the agreed upon day the negotiated payment was off. Thirty minutes later the driver called to say he was on his way. Again, the crew was nice and efficient and were well tipped. Only two minor items were damaged, so the physical part of the move went ok. It was the stress of dealing with the owners and their staff that made this hell. If Norman hadn't intervened for me, I would have gone berserk. My advice — don't use 'em!!
