In June I ordered over $1,200 worth of replacement cushions for my old This End Up furniture. The woman taking the order promised delivery in about one month, but I got was a year of excuses and lies.
At first, there was always a valid-sounding reason why the order was held up: factory closing for summer vacation, high volume of orders to be filled, trouble with the fabric supplier. At one point, in August a customer service rep told me that as a goodwill gesture, the company would refund 10 percent of my money if the merchandise didn't arrive within 10 weeks of the order date. Sad to say, I was so gullible that I believed this. Neither the cushions nor the 10 percent rebate ever materialized.
After several more months of getting the runaround, I finally did try to cancel. But by that point I could no longer get a live person to answer the phone or return my calls. Via canned recordings, CrateFurniture.com promised to refund my credit card. That didn't happen. After further complaints, I got another canned recording advising me to request a "chargeback" from my credit card company. I did, but so far no luck.
So, to anybody thinking of buying from CrateFurniture.com: Beware! Maybe there are people out there who got their orders filled promptly or got their money back, but I got ripped off! I can't remember what their website looked like a year ago, but at this point it lists no street address, business phone number or e-mail address. That should send up an enormous red flag!!
