The bamboo industry associations, all the retailers, and the manufacturor/distributors all tout bamboo as "harder than oak" if looking at the natural finish or "as hard as oak" if you get the carmelized. That is FALSE. We went with the "green" alternative of bamboo because we believed the "as hard as oak" line fed to us. We bought Master's Choice brand (by Shaw Industries) from Lumber Liquidators.
2 years later, every toy that is dropped dents the floor. If the object has a corner, it makes a hole in the floor. Creeping furniture scratches it up. Planks crack for no reason. The stairs are chipped at the edges.in short, thousands of dollars later, and I'm going to have to replace the floors on 3 levels.
STAY AWAY FROM BAMBOO unless you can afford to walk on eggshells or replace in under 5 years.
