The begining of April my fiance saw an ad on the TV about these great Tomato plants. If you called and ordered you would receive 3 of these plants for $10.00 and $5.95 for shipping and handling. I called and was put through this long automated system that took about 15 minutes to complete. After I ordered the tomato plants it kept offering other items as well. I declined all of them.By the end of the week I noticed that the 15.95 had not been deducted from my bank account. I tried to call the customer service number several times but only received a beeping sound. I was a little concerned at that time but decided since I had not seen the transaction occur at my bank, I just left it alone. BAD MISTAKE I was checking my account last saturday 5/3/08 and seen a debt card deduction from Gardeners Choice for $41.90 and I was very upset. Not only had I forgotten all about this order from the beginning of April but now the amount had increase more then 50%.
I called the bank and they told me the transaction was still pending and I would need to wait till the transaction post before I could dispute it. I decided to try to call the company again and see if I could resolve this problem myself. When I couldn't find the phone number on my desk or any where else in the house, I decided to check on-line to see if they had a website. I ended up calling another company that informed me that they have had several similar complaints and had Gardeners' Choice phone number to call. I tried to call and again I received only beeps and I tried to call off and on all weekend long.
I finally found their website and emailed them requesting since I was having such a difficult time getting a hold of them that unless their is a refund for the $41.90 or some kind of contact with me that I was going to dispute this with the bank and report them. This was done on sunday night may 4.
It is now Tuesday and I have not heard from them nor has the money been refunded or returned to my account. So this morning I logged on to my banks website and emailed them that I had not authorized this amount. Then this afternoon I was checking to see if the bank had responded to my email yet and happen to see that the same company had initiated another POS transaction for $10.00. Well I was very angry so I contacted the bank immediately and after talking with the customer service department it was decided to inactivate my debt card as it has now been comprimised.
Now I have no debt card and will have to take time off of work to go to the banks branch office to sign paper work to dispute these transactions. Not to mention that have to wait a couple weeks to receive a replacement card.
