We purchased a home from Meritage Homes in November. The home that we purchased was a spec home that was not fully complete. With the reassurance of Meritage Homes staff, we purchased our house with the understanding that the rest of the construction would meet the same standards as the Model home.
When the gas meter was installed it was installed too far from the house, blocking an implied walkway. As we have a gate on that side of the house we were very concerned for potential safety issues. We brought it up to Meritage for immediate correction. On November 16 we were promised by Lou Guntner, a Meritage representative, that the problem would be taken care of.
The problem was not taken care of and on the final Homeowner Orientation / Delivery Form it is was noted Gas meter not within same guidelines as model. Home owner bought house before meter was installed w / understanding that house would look like model house. On April 7 we were told that the meter, even though we were told by a Meritage employee that it would be taken care of, does not warrant the expense of having it moved by a Meritage representative.
