Deceptive sales tactics of defective or non-functional products marked as clearance/floor model

Passing through the clearance of Nebraska Furniture Mart, you simply cannot pass thought some items you wanted to have for a long time, with a reasonable price. That happened to me, in a March day, just before an Easter, I saw an Olympus SLR camera. Despite to relatively higher price than any available main stream camera, it was definitely a good price for a entry-level professional camera. Wonderful colorful pictures of my family on Easter dinner, children smiles, and Easter bunnies passed right through my mind with cute posters, saying get it, get it And I got it, even the label was stating that camera do not have a second set of lens, which originally comes with the set. Big deal, I can take pictures with other lenses. Here is idealistic picture finishes, and reality starts. With great excitement rushed to a silent corner, which was my car in the parking lot, and while taking to my fiance about great news, started to open a box.in the box, I found a non-functional camera with missing essential body parts such as battery cover and memory disk. That is not possible, my going once again through the box, the cover should be here, or how this camera will work if battery will not stay in the body. And by the way where is a charger to charge up by battery, which not having any cover to hold it in the body of the camera. And talking about memory disk, where is a USB cable to transfer it to my computer. So to make my disappointment short, once I went through the contents of the kit, I didnt find a half of the units, which should come with the Olympus Evolt E500, making my SLR camera totally non-functional. Stopped talking on the phone, and grab everything and run to the store, with a great question in my mind, do I just imaging everything. The clearance clerks looked to the box, and said this is how they received it from the digital cameras department, and they sell them as they are. And if do not like it, and because you bought it three minutes ago, they are willing to refund your money. Felt right from the first second, but then I realized that it is a perfect cover-up for selling a non-functional junkyard from the store, and if something will go wrong right away, just simply offer a refund. And if you went home, and realized that it is not working, not except any returns at all, and stack consumer with their by-products of marketing floor models and returns. Alluring a potential customer who is probably like me short on cash, with incredible deals to get rid of the junk, which they do not even bother to check on simply functionality. Of course, we understand that floor models and returns can have a minor scratches and imperfections; however they should be simply able to work. So I choused the second right to exercise as a consumer, RIGHT FOR EXCHAGE. I thought that I came to this store and bought the SLR camera, and by total irresponsibility of certain Nebraska Furniture Mart employees, the camera wasnt checked for its functionality before putting on their clearance section, I though that I have a right that the camera which I bought should be exchanged to any other similar type of SLR camera, and it didnt mattered to me at that point, if it is a camera on clearance section, floor model or a new. For me it was important that Nebraska Furniture Mart will step on front, and admits their mistake and do exchange my non-functional camera to any similar functional one. And a company which shown every month to a thousand MBS students as a example of successful and ethical business, proudly bearing Warrant Buffets name refuses grant me exchange to any similar SLR camera.By this proving that electronics clearance section of the Nebraska Furniture Mart is a shameless cover-up business oriented to get rid of marketing by-products of elite or high-class sales to second class people like me, alluring people with low prices, but after the products have been sold taking no responsibility of correcting mistakes and most importantly not making customer happy. At the end of the day every customer deserves receive a proper quality functional product. With this I end my small story, and yea, the Easter is passed, and my bank account have been charged for non-functional camera, and my camera is somewhere at Nebraska Furniture Mart customer service. And even responsible manager at Nebraska Furniture Mart (Andy) who promised me to call next day didnt call me even on third day!
The take home message: here in Nebraska we like to shop in the stores associated with big names in business, such as Warren Buffet, Ms. B and etc. This gives us additional confidence that business at those stores is fair and trustworthy. But it is not always like this, and you my dear fellow every-day customer need to be a very careful and even suspicious to any product at clearance section at Nebraska Furniture Mart. And the Nebraska Furniture Mart claim We want to make your returns & exchanges as simple and as fair as possible is nothing more than a marketing bluff.
