Our experience with this so called reputed company has been the worst experience of any service company we ever used.
We called this company for the service of our electric heat pump unit and furnace. They sent a so called technician craig gadow. Mr. Gadow inspected the heat pump unit outside of our house and then inspected the furnace in the basement. I explained to mr. Gadow that the unit might be little low on r-22 gas. Mr. Gadow by now after having seen me came to know that i am a handicap person. So he took full advantage of that. This is what he did.
1) he intentionally sabotaged the wires in the heat pump unit outside. He disconnected almost all the wires and connects with the wrong wires. He
further prepares the estimate for the repairs. Before he prepares the estimate, he calls his office and tells them that he has a sales lead for them.
2) the estimates # 107320 he prepares is like this:
A) evaluation fee $69.00
b) 4n recover refrigerant, recharge, drier $683.00
c) electronic leak search $498.00
d) 2x 2-4 lbs. K22 $334.00
This adds to total of 1584.00
Mr. Graig gadow also writes on the estimate under column:
clients concern: heat pump

leak search & leak repair w/system recover & recharge.
Work completed: yes.
Mr. Graig gadow further advises us to change the unit as there is no guarantee of gas leakage and it is not worth repairing the unit. Thereafter he sets up appointment with their salesman mr. Bill gasser. He also informs us that after spending $498.00 if they cant find the leakage then the whole pipe line will have to be replaced at an extra cost of almost $1500.00 to $2000.00.
On december 1 mr. Bill gasser pays us a visit and starts his sales pitch. He started from $7600.00 for replacing the complete unit. When i told him that i am a disabled person and live on a limited income and there is no way that i could afford $7600.00 for replacing the unit. Immediately he tried to sell the electric furnace for $4300.00 he further pressurized me to decide on the spot and if i did he would knock off another $600.00.
He immediately took out an application for the financing of the unit and asked me to fill it up, which i did. I showed my actual income on this form, after which he immediately called the financing company giving my particulars and inflated my income by one hundred percent. When i asked him why was he lying, he replied just to get me approved. For whatever reason, i was not approved.
Since we wanted to stay warm, and we believed what they told us, therefore, i suggested to mr. Bill gasser that my son who lives in new jersey can apply for the credit and that way we can have the new unit installed. Mr. Bill gasser left me blank application for my son to apply for the credit so that we could have a working heating unit.
My son after completing the application, suggested me to seek second opinion before submitting application for financing the heat furnace from thomson plumbing heating-cooling. Therefore, i called the company which had installed the old unit.
On december 4 technician from the original company who had installed the heat pump visited and inspected the unit. He found that the wires of the heat pump out side have been sabotaged, it took him half hour to fix the correct connections, after fixing the connections he charged the heat pump, it took less than one pound of r-22 refrigerant and my system started working perfectly. Today is march 01 and i have no problem with my unit.
I had to pay half hour of labor which was $30.00 plus $60.00 for service call and $15.00 for one pound of refrigerant r-22. This technician told me that although he put much less than one pound of refrigerant he had to charge me the minimum for one pound. My problem was fixed with total cost of $105.00.
Thompson plumbing heating-cooling company could have fixed the
problem by simply charging the heat pump by adding less than one pound of refrigerant cost of which was only $15.00. But they had something else in mind "cheating".
They believe in getting the people and get rich overnight as oppose to their customer service is our #1 focus. There focus is only how to get maximum dollars from you; they do not have any ethics what so ever. Their claim that they have the best technicians is nothing but flat lie.
Two days after my unit was fixed i received a call from mr. Bill gasser, when i complained to him, he immediately handed over the phone to his supervisor. Supervisor assured me that he will look into the matter and will not only refund me the money i paid them but will also pay the $30.00 which the other company charged for fixing the wires, which were deliberately sabotaged by craig gadow the technician from thomson plumbing heating cooling.
Till the time of writing this complaint i have not received any thing from thompson plumbing heating-cooling.
On december 18 i spoke with the manager lee brooks, who flatly refused to take action against the technician, sales person and refused to return the money i had to spend because of their unprofessional and dishonest staff. It seems that this company looks out for the dishonest people and recruits them so that they can cheat the innocent consumer, especially elderly and handicap persons like me. I am forwarding this complaint to the office of the attorney general of the state of ohio also besides mentioning to the local media as well as cincinnati chamber of commerce so that their unethical practices are stopped and other consumers should not be the victim of their dishonesty.
