I resorted to renting furniture when I moved across country to accept a position that advanced my career and placed me closer to my family. Rent A Center was close to my new address, so I gave it a chance. The person that assisted me in the store was very personable - but strange. She pulled my work number from the application and applied for a job that I was hiring for (she was not qualified for the position - but I tried to be kind when I explained this to her during the interview). After that - the agreement with the company changed - they would call my office 10 to 15 times a day - call my home and cellular during those same days - demanding that I call them right away? As I replaced the furniture and returned the rented, they broke doors, placed a hole in a wall and treated me extremely disrespectfully with their verbage and physical treatment of my belongings. WHen the furniture started "falling apart" they REFUSED to repair - by stating that they had no control over that "division" and could not make that "happen". When I reached out to the corporate office I was told that they had "no interest in the customer" a quote of Robert Sinclair's Administratative Assistant. The day that they came to pick up the bedroom suite that I had already paid appx $3300.00 for (they wanted appx $2200 more for the pay off) that sells retail for $1500.00 - the folks that came to pick it up were very nice - but stressed how much they did not like their job nor the way they were treated by the company...
