In May I had all my windows (15) replaced with a guarantee of a 35% reduction in heating costs. A year after the installation, I called my oil provider to see how much money I had saved. Not only had it not gone down but it had even gone up a bit in usage.
When I reported it to them, I was sent a form to fill out which was next to impossible to fill out. The information from the Weather Bureau can only be obtained if you pay for it. For me to prove what my thermostat was set at would be impossible, unless I could go back in time.
I have had them out several times either because the screens didn't fit the windows properly and would fall out if they were used or another time it was that a piece of the window had fallen off. One time they came out to discover that there was no calk around the window causing a breeze on my head.
I have had a professional window installer come out to check my windows. To my surprise, he informed me that there is no insulation around the window. He, also, said that because the piece around the edges wasn't sealed that I could be getting rotting wood. I, also, have had one piece of the vinyl blow off.
I am having some of the windows replaced so that I can save me on my heat bill. I would really like them to reimburse me for the installation costs to help me with the costs of the new windows.
