From the very start I should have ran. The sales lady didn't know her product. The first manager refused to remove her. The second man gave all kinds of promises but didn't deliver.
Stephanie told us we were getting a 4 bedroom house with a giant kitchen Island, wood shelves in the master Bedroom, a fourth bedroom and office. We got none of these. I asked Mark the first Manager to look at all the mistakes and changes that were made before the order was formalized. He said he couldn't do her job and his. The order was confusing as it had a 4th bedroom on it and no one to go over it with.
The house that was supposed to be built the 2nd week of July was built in August. Then the nightmare, It was delivered to Luv Homes with 3 bedrooms and a media room. They refused to return it and have it changed.
We then started dealing with Jimmy, the new manager. After many concessions, we agreed to take the house (we had been in an apartment after our house fire and the lease was up)
Delay after dalay in closing, I filed a complaint with their corporate office (Clayton Homes 888-449-4055). Jimmy told me to "deal with him" and not contact corporate anymore. Their delays on closing put us looking for a new apartment.
When closing came Stephanie did not notify them I was using power of attorney because my wife wasn't there. The papers were made that way and Mark said they're were too many mistakes in the paperwork and offered a discount and they would hook up all utilities and get our Island, to come another day. This was after Jimmy had my wife take unexcussed time from work to close.
The second closing went smoothly except Jimmy changed the agreement to have ME pay for materials for the utilities. Not 10 minutes after closing, Jimmy calls and says I can't have our Island because it was against ADA regulations. He then agreed to change them out if I paid his price for it (notice he can't give it because of ADA, but will break the law if I paid. We still haven't got the Island but I received my money back Yesterday.
Then all the mistakes on setup and repairs. It took almost a month to replace broken blocks under the house and finish installing the tie down. We had a 1 month lease (after Jimmy told us it would be ready in 2 to 3 weeks, closer to 2 he thought.
After our month the utilities were ready (I hooked up the electric, water, and brought the septic line to the house after the contractor refused to take it to the septic). We moved in and stayed in one room waiting for the repairs. THey would come look and fix a couple things and come back some other day. We finally got fed up and brought in the furniture. It's been another 3 weeks and we still don't have the Island, Wooden Shelves, but do have paint on the trim and a damaged countertop that was painted or patched somehow.
One of the concessions was not getting the 4th bedroomand office. We were forced to make the media room my office and my wifes sewing room
Like I said I was STUPID and should have ran after all the mistalkes before the order went in. All I can Add is PLEASE don't make the same mistake as Me.
