My problem is with Amana. They have been unresponsive to my problem and I have been without a refrigerator since July 4th!

In late September we purchased a brand new Amana refrigerator with a price tag of $1,800.00 suffice to say not the cheap end of their product offering.

On July 4th the refrigerator portion of the unit stopped working.

The freezer is working fine (so far).in the Northeast we were in a heat wave situation and temps on the 4th reached 100 degrees with high humidity.

July 5th I contacted Amana directly and was informed that there would not be a technician in my area until July 11th. I explained that this refrigeration unit is only (9) months old and that it's still under warranty. July 11th best date for service, end of story. They provided the name of a local dealer who services Amana products and suggested that I give them a call, which I did. Since I hadn't purchased the unit from them their policy is to service their customer first. The earliest they could help was July 16th.

I went back to the dealer that I purchased the refrigerator from to see if they could assist in any way. They do not service the products they sell, but said they would contact Amana to see if they could improve the July 11th date. They contacted me and told me to call Amana back in two hours, that they should have a new date for me either that day or the following day. I did as they advised to be told that they had me scheduled for July 11... They hadn't not anything for me.

We have now been a week without refrigeration. My NEW and EXPENSIVE refrigerator is in the middle of the kitchen. We lost all the food (which was significant as it was well stocked for the long holiday week-end). Amana has been unresponsive and refused any offset for loss of food saying it's not their policy to replace lost food.

Any help would be greatly appreciated at this time. I personally would like to return this unit as I don't have much confidence in either the product or Amana's customer support/problem resolution tactics.
