Complaint / Review
National Expo Group - National Home Expo
I was hired by a company to sell exhibition booths for trade shows and was never paid fraudulent company

I was contacted through an employee search agent; Monster.com, and applied for a sales job for National Expo Group aka National Home Expo around October 30. My job was to sell exhibition booths to Home Improvement Companies; Interior Design, Countertop, Flooring, Bath & Kitchen, etc., etc. I signed a contract with National Expo Group. They sent me paper work about the company along with their web site. I made a list of all the companies I made sales presentations to and whether or not they were interested in buying booth space or not. We had a tracking sheet that we sent to our supervisor every week to generate sales. One of my prospective clients informed me that she had called the convention center, The San Jose Convention Center, for which I was to sell booth space for February 3.

The San Jose Convention Center never heard of National Expo Group and did not have anything on their calendar. I then proceeded to call all of the other Convention Centers in the US that we were supposed to have conferences at: The Sands Expo Center; Las Vegas; November 18-19. This event never took place, I spoke with a Tyler and he told me that they were in litigation with a Kristie Martin. The Dallas Convention Center; March 10; 214.939.2764. They never heard of us but are dealing with a company called National Association of Home Builders. The Los Angeles Convention Center; April 21-22; 818.557.2950. They have a show but it is sponsored by NEC Group (Offices in Burbank and Utah), www.thehomeshow.com, Dan Green is their contact. The Orlando Convention Center; February 17. NO SHOW RESERVATIONS; they never heard of National Expo Group. Georgia World Congress Center; Atlanta; June 23-24. NO SHOW RESERVATIONS; they never heard of National Expo Group. Bill Graham Civic Center; San Francisco; January 27-28. They never heard of National Expo Group and nothing was listed for the aforementioned dates. When the company sent out their info packet for the Exhibitors Application Package, dates were not the same on pages 2 and 6.

I made some corrections to make it look more professional (red flag). The Better Business Bureau has the address for National Expo Group as 1734 as opposed to the 4173 which we received on Time Sheets and Contracts. The complete address from the BBB is 1734 68th Ave, Oakland, CA 94621,510.562.2920. The Federal Tax ID# is 20-5675539. I filed a W-4 form, I sent in Time Sheets along with my bank account number for them to pay me through Direct Deposit. We never did get paid on the dates we were supposed to. When they continued to ask me to send in my sales information I refused to because I was not getting paid and I started to feel that the company was not legitimate. When I found out the information stated previously from my research, I stopped making sales calls altogether. I just composed an apology/informative letter and sent it to all those I made calls to letting them know of the fraudulent practices of this National Expo Group.
