Ergo-Pedic Sleep Systems Pulls The Old Bait and Switch Ripoff

In September my family and I went to the L.A. County fair in Pomona California. One of the exhibiters / Venders there was Ergo-Pedic. I had heard of memory foam mattresses and thought I would check it out. My Wife and I tried the 2000 and 3000 series mattresses. We thought the 2000 mattress was a bit hard for us. But the 3000 felt wonderful. It had 1 of plush memory foam on top the salesman said. It was both supportive and soft and comfortable all at the same time. We really wanted one but at $2699.00 it was a bit much for us to pay at the time.

About a month later I was doing some research online about Ergo-Pedic mattresses and found a website http://www.abundantlifeessentials.com. Dr. Beth Dupree is the owner / operator of the site and sells many different natural health related items. She had the same description of the mattress on her site as that of the one from the fair. I called her toll free number and she told me all about her mattress, which was the one we were interested in, the series 3000. She was very helpful and strait forward with me. She described the mattress to me and it was the same description of the one from the fair. Plus they had a wonderful price of $1899.00 for the mattress when Ergo-Pedic themselves sells the same mattress for $2699.00 on their website. So we decided that when we were ready to buy one we would get it from Dr. Beth Dupree.

We ordered it from Dr. Dupree and received it the day before thanksgiving and it got to us in less then a week. I was impressed it got to us a week ahead of time. When we installed the mattress we laid on it and found it was not the 3000 series mattress we laid on at the fair. I called Dr. Dupree the day after Thanksgiving. She said she needed to get some pictures of the inside of the mattress. So I unzipped a corner and pulled back the removable cover and took a picture with my digital camera. I sent her the picture via email and she said it did not look like the cut-away on their website nor did it look like her own mattress. She said she would forward the picture to George Klause at Ergo-Pedic to have him look at it and rectify the problem since it was they who delivered it to begin with.

I was put in touch with a rude woman named Desiree. She said it was a 3000 and if we wanted to switch out the mattress we had to pay $149.00 for the other mattress and for the pick up and deliver charges. I said no way we would do that. I told her that we laid on one at the fair and this was not the same mattress. She would not budge. I asked her to come out and look at ours, if it was the right one I would pay them for their time, if not the right one I expected to have them switch out the mattress there and then.

Two days went by and no word. I called and she said she had no trucks coming out that week and we would have to wait until they had a delivery coming out our way. I called Dr. Dupree and explained the situation to her. She was flabbergasted. She said she would call the owner himself Mr. George Klause. Now over a week into this thing and she can't get in touch with him. He did not respond to her emails or phone calls. I asked for their number and his name and I called. I lucked out because they did not know me and he took my call. He argued with me it was the right mattress, that it indeed was a 3000 series. I told him that I had laid on one at the LA County Fair and it was not the same one. He asked me why we did not buy one there. I told him we were not ready to do so at that time. He then told me that was what I got buying from a dealer instead of him. I even offered to bring the mattress to him myself. We set an appointment and he canceled it the day I was to take in the mattress. I had stayed home from work to do this.

I was furious. I called Dr. Dupree and she was even more taken back then before. She and I spent another two weeks trying to get them to pick up the mattress. I did not want the thing and never wanted to work with Ergo-Pedic again. We both had to threaten legal action against them for her to get credited back her money and then mine. It seems what the problem was that they changed the mattress without telling anyone. Dr. Dupree really worked hard for us and she did get our money back. She was outstanding in her customer service and really cared about the problems we were having. She even went as far as severing ties with Ergo-Pedic and stopped selling their products on her site. I owe her a deep debt of gratitude for her tireless efforts to help us even while she was sick.
