I ordered an appraisal for my client on 11/8. When I ordered that appraisal I noted on the order form to contact me if I was out of the box on the estimated value. I also mentioned on the order that I would be dropping a check in the mail in the amount of $300. I was looking for a value of 140K.
Before an appraiser goes out to the property this will pull comparables in the area and do their homework on the property before inspection. Either they didn't do their homework or they just didn't care what the value came in at. My client came out of pocket $300 only to get an appraisal that is worthless to him. His home appraised for $99,600 back in 2002. Since then he has invested 20K into remodeling the home. When I received the final report on 11/15 the value was only 100K. I tried to contact Ecentury and they said they would look into this matter.
Five days went by and I had heard nothing so I called and they told me that it would take 2 more days. Two days later I called and the said 2 more days. They have been telling me 2 more days for 2 weeks now. When I ask if I can talk to the appraiser that did the report they told me no and when I asked if I could have the appraisers cell # they told me no but did give me his email.
I have emailed him 3 times and had not received any response. My client has also left 3 messages with them and has not received a call back. I cannot get a hold of anyone over there to at least explain their findings to me. They simple don't care. They have already been paid for the report and now don't have time to provide me with any answers as to why his home as only appreciated $400 in 4 years.
I am filing this complaint in hopes that people will see what kind of operation Ecentury appraisals is running and hope that this will save other people the headache that I have experienced.
