I had a renter several years ago who contracted ADT to put in an alarm. When he left 5 years ago, I asked ADT if I could restart the service in my name. Some time later I received a call from ADT about a ringing alarm. It was not my house but the old renters new place. ADT then said they would make sure the old renter's name was off my account.
I just received a letter from a collection agency (in my name) stating I owed ADT money. When I called ADT they told me the old renter of 5 years ago had not paid his recent bill so ADT put my name forward to the collection agency. They had never taken his name off the original account and ADT never even warned me. Now my credit is affected. I am currently trying to cancel ADT.
