I bought a hydrospa hot tub online because it was much cheaper than one at a local store. I did my research, checking many sites to see if anyone had anything bad to say about hydrospa, but I couldn't find anything.

However I am writing this so that others do not make the same mistake I did. If you are going to buy a hot tub, spend the extra money and get one from a local dealer with references.

First the tub arrived damaged, I refused to accept the shipment and despite promises for a quick replacemnt, it took several months. After a short time I began having problems, and despite hydrospa's promise that they had a contractor in my area who would come out under their warranty, they never provided anyone. I called them each week for several months to avail. Also their jets stink and corrode, I am always ordering new ones at considerable personal expense.

The spa shell recently began to blister and although hydrospa brags about their 10 yr warranty, it is really a complete scam. First of all it took four months to even get any action. I spoke and corresponded w / a customer service rep (Michele) who did nothing except ignore my return calls and emails I never heard from her again.

After two months of dealing w / this moron, I tried their other customer service rep (Chelsea) w / the same result. It is a bittersweat feeling to relize that hydrospa must be an equal opportunity employer hiring the mentally retarded.

Anyway back to the warranty. Here's how it works: they use a mathmatical formula that increases the amount the owner is required to pay for a replacement shell as months go by. Not only would it cost me $536 for the new shell, I'd also have to pay the delivery cost of $550 AND pay someone (if I could even find anyone) to install it. Some warranty. If I followed through w / this, It would cost me nearly what I paid for the brand new spa.

Other online or mail order outfits may be better than hydrospa (they could hardly be worse) but if you're going to get a hot tup learn from my error and buy it locally. Not only do they service their own tubs, but if you have a problem you can trash them around town or go in and throw a fit.

I got stuck w / not only an inferior product, but hydrospa is 1,000 miles from my home so they pay no mind to my troubles. I hope that this forum costs them some business, but I wish this not out of revenge but compassion for fellow consumers.
