I purchased a Centex System in our old home in 2003. We moved to a new home in 2004 and had the system service moved over in 2004. Since it was a new home we had to pay over $350.00 for teh wiring and the security system itself.
We sigend a 2 year contract and I signed up to automatic payments through our bank for the monthly fee. My bank automaticaly made the payments to Centex on my behalf. About 9 months later I relaized I was not receiving any paper bill but the payments were being accepted. I called and was told by a lady that my account was paid very far ahead which Is why no payment was received.
I delayed payments for several months and asked them to send a bill they never did. The payments continued and on December I had an alarm activation. No one ever called or came by from the company or the police were never called. I called Centex (Ranger America) and was told that there records did not show I was a customer with Centex and they had not been monitoring. I spoke to a manager Cesar after I sent a letter to Centex.
He was very rude and not help full. He stated that because I did not test the system it was my fault and they were not responsible. I questioned how they can be taking payments from someone and not inquir as to why someon is making payments to them without them providing a service.
They are not returning my calls now and I am left with almost 2 years of having a system that was never monitored which I have paid over $1,200 for. Centex never directed me on teh testing of the system. However, any legitimate company would have see that someone was making payments with no service being provided.
I am considering getting an attorney but am not sure how that works for small claims court for out of state companies.
Please avoid this company and anything associated with Ranger America.
