While serving overseas in germany for the army. I contacted harris realestate because i was interested in land for a home i wanted to purchase. I chose and purchased a 1 acre secluded lot that was suppose to have never been built on before. I also paid $600.00 to have the property cleared of trees and $900.00 for an extra large septic system.
When i arrived a few months later, i discovered the property was a dump for local scumbags too lazy to take their trash to the proper place. Not one effort had been made to clear the property of trees even though i had paid for this service. I had to hire a dozer operator to clear and bury all that crap (mostly garbage and rotting deer carcasses). I also discovered that there is no such thing as a a "large" septic system. This was a scam because the regular size would have been $300.00 cheaper and the same thing anyway.
Also, there had been a mobile home there previously and the septic tank was already in place and full! They were able to sell the same septic sysytem twice! I have attempted several times to confront them about this with no response. I wished i could afford an attorney and take them to court. There are laws in place to protect people from real estate rip-offs but when you are not from here (georgia), it seems everyone wants to fleece you and there is nothing you can do about it.
