Bay Country Flooring
Lousy service, shady billing, dishonest ripoff

Do not ever use Bay Country Flooring of Gambrills, Md. If it costs a few dollars more to use another store or Lowes/Home Depot, then do it. You get what you pay for!

Where to start. I guess the headaches started when scheduling a time for their crew to install the wood flooring. I was told (before I signed the contract and put down a deposit of course) that the flooring would be installed in one day, and that work would commence around 9 am on that day.

So I arrange for my mom to come to my house and wait for the crew to show up. 10 o'clock, 11,12 o'clock. Nothing. I call the store and they keep telling me that a crew is on the way. Finally around 1 pm two guys show up who can't speak a lick of English but allegedly are here to install my floor.

Anyway, around 3 pm I get a call from my mom saying that the crew isn't there, there is a stack of wood scattered around the house, and a mound of sawdust and wood pieces sitting outside the house.

So I track down the sales rep/head shyster Dave from the store. He says would that one of the guys got sick and they would have to return the next day to finish. Gee, would have been nice if someone had informed us of this (or gestured that they were sick if they couldn't say it in English). The next day, same routine. Supposed to start at 9am, no one shows up until 1pm.

I call Dave several times to find out where the work crew is. I can tell that by now he really could give a damn less if I'm satisfied or happy with the product and installation. He had 1/2 of his money, and as I found out later was in the process of charging the other 1/2 before the job was finished. More excuses and phone calls ensue, but eventually the crew shows up.

I then get a frantic phone call from my mom (who is annoyed at having to spend a 2nd day babysitting this gang) that the supply line to my toilet has been snapped off by them. I figure enough is enough so I drive home to find my basement full of water. I tell the work crew forget the plumbing, I'll fix it. Just hurry up and install my floor and get the hell out.

Eventually they finish the floor around 7:30 that night. They don't have the shoemold to finish the job, so I have to call my buddy Dave to arrange a follow-up day to finish. Just prior to this follow-up day I get my credit card bill and get the surprise of finding out that the store had charged my card for the remainder of the balance. Without my permission, before the work was completed, no receipt was mailed! And of course knowing that I wasn't satisfied with the work, but like I said they could not have cared less about that.

Today they are supposed to finish the job. Although I was told that they would start by 10am today, it's now 1pm and no crew is on site. I called the store to speak with Dave and he wouldn't even get on the phone. He had his secretary relay messages back and forth to me on the phone that the crew would be there before 5pm and that's all he could tell me. I guess charging someone's credit card fraudulently is something that you can hurry for, the actual work can wait.

What really pisses me off most (besides having to track them down constantly, the work taking 3 days and making someone take the time off to be there, never getting a phone call returned or having my card charged without my permission) is that not ONCE was there a phone call to say "Hey, we screwed up, we're sorry". Not once did Dave or anyone else from the store step up like a man and take responsibility for the colossal screw-up that this job was. It was always some excuse or someone else's fault. So take my advice, NEVER EVER use Bay Country Flooring, LLC.
