This starts out in the the store in Columbia Mo, But they were not all the problem. My husband and myself were thrilled to finally finding the perfect couch, chair and ottoman. We were not thrilled to have to do the rent to own, I would have rather paid directly for it. But that aside we wanted it and they offered a great payment plan.
I went in with the application and paid 500.00 down on the purchase. The manager told me it would be put into an account where it would be used at the end of the process or if i needed to access it for payment. I liked the sound of that. About 1 month into renting to "own" the couch started to come apart at the frame. I spoke to the manager about it and he said that they would come out and get it and send it in for repairs. I asked what was my family going to sit on. He offered a lender couch for us.
A couple of weeks went by and they still had not came to get the couch. I called back and was informed that they would be out that day to get it and for the inconvience that I would not have to make any payments to them while the couch was in for repairs. I asked for this in writting and the manager said no need mam Have I ever done you wrong? You can trust me.
Well being as trusting as I am I trusted him. One month went by that we hadn't heard from them. I called them no response matter of fact they didnt' even know where my couch was. My husband, myself and our 4 children went to the store. Spoke to the manager and he walked us to the back and sure enough there was our couch still sitting there not fixed. It was finally fixed and returned to us only to find stiches missing from the back cushion. Had to go back for more repairs. Now to remind you 8 weeks has went by since they picked up the couch from me and I am not suppose to be making the payments while it is being repaired. Please remember this for further reference in the story.
Well we got the couch back. Then we moved. So the closest store to us was Jefferson City to make our payments. This is where our true night mare began. We made our payments like clock work maybe being a little late now and then but nothing we couldn't work out with them.
My husband left his job in may and we decided it was best for us to move back to Camdenton where family was and both of us go to work. So we moved. I called them to let them know where we moved and where the closest one was. First they started screaming at me over the phone saying i broke the contract by moving. I was in shock we had only 700 dollars of the 2800 dollars left to pay. He said they were coming to get it because we broke the contract. Now we worked this out and agreed That we would make our payments to the Eldon store.
Now remember the 500.00 dollars i put down and the Payments I wasnt' suppose to make while the couch was being repiared. I told the manager that my husband nor myself had found a job and we payed bi weekly so we were due for a payment. I told him to please take that payment out of the 500 i orginally put down. He didnt' have a clue what i was talking about so I explained it to him like it happened. He said he would call me back. He called the Columbia store and then called me back and said that we didnt' make any payments for two months so they took that as payments.
I explained the agreement and he said do you have this in writing. And I said no he said to trust him. Well after getting angry and really upset I told them that I would have my husband call them. Well my husband never called them. They started calling on a daily basis to either me or someone on my list. At one point they called my best friend Tonya and disclosed personal information with her and told her that they were going to prosecute me and told her our payment history, told her everything that was in our file. I was angry I called him and said to come and get it I wasn't going have him ruin my family and friends they are to important to me.
About two weeks later he called again wanting to know where his payment was and told him he must be brain dead becasue I said to come and get it.By this time we were 6 weeks or 3 payments behind. The 500 dollars if used for the payments for this time would have only left us with little over 300 to pay. This couch and chair were my dream living room set and I was so disappointed that I was taken advantage of and that I could trust no one again. I will never do business with them again they cheated me and my family out of 2100 dollars and nothing to show for it.
