Our basement flooded and we called our Ins Co. (Nationwide). They gave us two water removal companies to choose from in our area. Thinking we were in good / trusting hands and would be treated fairly we chose Servpro and well it was a big mistake of judgement on our part! Our insurance company said not to worry and that it would be no cost to us. It was a huge cost. I mean out of site to the moon expensive (nearly 15K). Now we had just enough water to get the carpet wet and some very light drywall damage. Not 12" of water. They stuffed my basement with everything they could bill us for!
We tried to have a meeting with the owner to justify cost / hours etc. And he would not sit down and go over the bill. He told me and I quote.."this is not my first rodeo" another words take me to court. After complaining he said he would reduce the bill by 2k. To me that spells bill padding! And the Ins. Company and or adjuster is in bed with the service companies. They took 80% of my money to repair our basement. I only hope you are reading this prior to contracting a service! Get a firm price in writing and do not act on fear of the moment! Besides who would have even imagined it could cost that much! Karma will get you Mr. Servpro!
