Century Home Improvement is running a scam in the painting/home improvement business in Northeast Ohio/Cleveland. They undercut all other estimates for work and then take your deposit but never show up to do the work.
They were hired by us to paint the exterior of our home. They showed up immediately after my call to provide an estimate. Promptly showed up to sign the contract. I had to call repeatedly to beg them to come out and start the work. I was repeatedly lied to by the "secretary" that they were on their way. They would never show up.
Continued to bother them. It got ugly. They finally showed up twice and merely sprayed a house on the house for 30 minutes to "clean" it and then partially scraped the top half of two sides of the house. They never showed up again. Weeks went by and it got too cold outside to paint the house.
I called them to cancel the contract and get my $800 deposit refunded. The contract does not say it is non-refundable or anything like that. The continue to give us the run around and refuse to send a refund. They evade our phone calls and keep referring us to another "manager" in the company who she says will call us and for weeks on end, never phones us to settle the issue.
I believe their scam is to issue an extremely low estimate for work, take your deposit, complete a minimal, scant amount of work to prove they were there and never show up to finish the job.
