HP Omin All in One disaster - HP Omni 120 All In One Desktop PC

After saving up his money for 3 years to buy his own PC, I selected and ordered an HP Omin all in one 120 model for my son. This was our first HP. We've mostly had Dells and one Toshiba. This HP model lasted 3 months, and the overheated and shut down by itself. We tried everything to get it turned back on, but it wouldn't. We called HP tech support which had us go through several routine checks, and ultimately they needed to bring it in for repair. It took several attempts to get a correct shipping package for the model, as apparently, they aren't aware of the shape of all the models they sell, and I ended up having to cut the foam to fit the pc to ship it out to them. It comes back from repair not less than 12 hours ago, supposedly a bad (or more likely fried) motherboard, and it was replaced. Just a short while ago, it overheated and shut off again. There is no warning system to this overheating... And I don't understand why it is overheating to this degree other than it is just a bad design and there is not enough room for proper cooling of the unit and all it's components that rest right behind the monitor. I called tech repair again and explained what happened, and she claimed someone will be calling me about a possible replacement with another one of the same model. I'm not sure how that will help, as it is clearly a design flaw, but in either case, I won't hold my breath waiting for that replacement. I already tried to get it the first time around, and someone from HP headquarters who was very rude, refused to believe the possibility of this computer having a tendency to overheat. She said she could not replace the PC at that time, but stated " I might be able to offer you an extra year of warranty to ease your mind "... Not sure what that really means. Might? I guess that is the reason why the extra warranty was never applied: / HP's so called " award winning customer service " sort of leaves me longing for the good old days of dealing with Dell's people, and that's not saying very much.
