Salesman came to our door saying his company apexalarm was trying to establish a presence in Kamloops and our property being on a prominent corner was in an excellent position to display his company, s advertisements.in order to accomplish this he was authorised to choose certain properties to act as examples of what his company had to offer.in return for allowing the company signs there would be no charge for installation or equipment just 49.99 monthly service fee. Since we are pensioners we thought this to be a good deal and we could afford $49.99 monthly from our pensions. However, we gave the salesman a void cheque to pay the service fee. We were shocked to be billed for an "activation" fee of $66 plus hst for a total of $121.79 for June then in July a bill for $251.70 In August a bill for $235.89 Then numerous phone calls demanding payment. I wrote to the company on aug. 5 2010 requesting they cancel the contract and remove all of their aquipment from ourhome. I also put a stop cheque advisory to our bank, eff. Aug 25 onAug 30 I was informed that this account was being put into the hands of an collection agency. I have not had a response from the company replying to my request just the demanding phone calls.
