I've had HP laptops and printers for many years and have always recommended them... Not anymore - I've just bought my last HP product ever. I purchased a laptop for my daughter to take to college so I got the 4 year Accidental Protection plan thinking it would at least get her all the way through school. After 2 years, she had an accident that broke the DVD optical drive. Long story short it has been 6 weeks of talking to MANY agents at a call center in India; shipping the computer in twice; and two additional shipments made to our old address after changing the address with the India call center numerous times. And it is still not fixed. I tried to write to the president of the company but he states on his web site that he does not read the mail. The HP employees are not able to take any actions that help expedite the process for customers - they are all very friendly but seem to be there to just wait you out until you finally give up. My daughter went back to school without her laptop& it is being shipped back to me again un-repaired and had I not bought the warranty, I could have installed a new drive for her myself and she'd be at school with her laptop. Stay away from HP warranties and for that matter their products... These days, it is the service you are buying in a computer name... HP and customer SERVICE have no correlation. It is yet another big company and I'm just one customer in a "global economy".
